Maria Fátima Lucas

With a PhD in Computational Chemistry and more than 20 years of experience in protein science, Maria Fátima Lucas is the CEO and founder of Zymvol, an innovative biotechnology company developing biocatalysis through its unique hyperrealistic computer simulations. By combining physics-based simulations, AI, and real-world industrial data, Zymvol designs scale-ready enzymes faster, cheaper, and with higher predictability than traditional approaches. Since its founding in 2017, the company has worked on more than 150 projects with clients worldwide, and has been an active contributor to the scientific research landscape. Thanks to this work, in 2020 Maria Fátima Lucas was one of the winners of the EU Women Innovators Award, granted by the European Commission.
